A-Rod ties record with home run
News: With a two-run homer to left field that silenced an excited Anaheim crowd in the fifth inning Tuesday in Game 4 of the ALCS, Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez drove in a run in his eighth straight postseason game, tying the major-league record. "It's the best I've felt all year, no doubt," said Rodriguez, who is 6 for 16 with three homers and five RBI in the ALCS. "I certainly feel free and liberated. It's the happiest I've been in a long time." Rodriguez also singled and scored New York's first run in the fourth, and he doubled and scored on an error in the ninth to cap his do-it-all day. "It's obvious he's brought what he does during the season," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He's been as clutch as anybody could have hoped for on their side. He's a heck of a player. He's playing his game right now. We're obviously going to have to do a little better job of making some pitches on him." [...]
A-Rod moves Yankees one step closer
Alex Rodriguez moved the Yankees one step closer to the World Series, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in tonight's 10-1 win over the Angels in Game 4 of the ALCS. He hit a single, double and a two-run homer off Jason Bulger.
Our View: New York now holds a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. A-Rod has three homers and five RBI over the first four games, with a .375 batting average.

Alex Rodriguez finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two
Alex Rodriguez finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored as the Yankees topped the Angels in Game 4 of the ALCS. A-Rod joined Ryan Howard and Lou Gehrig as the only players to collect at least one RBI in eight straight playoff games with his two-run blast in the fifth inning. [...]
Girardi's overmanaging cost the Yankees in Game 3
1. The Yankees are still in command of the ALCS. They give the ball on Tuesday night to a red-hot CC Sabathia, and, given that the Angels have no one like Sabathia, Mariano Rivera or Alex Rodriguez, New York is still likely to win the series. Joe Girardi hopes so, anyway. The Yankees manager needs to make ALCS Game 3 moot, because that game has his fingerprints, many as they are, all over it.
A-Rod makes tiny bit of history
The intentional walk given to Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning of game two of the ALCS on Monday made him just the fourth player in playoff history to be intentionally walked with the bases empty and the game tied, according to AOL Fanhouse's Ed Price.
Our View: It appears the Angels and Fuentes had learned their lesson after foolishly grooving A-Rod a fastball, which he crushed, late in game two. A-Rod has blown up his reputation as a postseason failure this year, batting .348 with four home runs and nine RBI in just six games.

A-Rod homers again
Alex Rodriguez hit another long home run on Monday in the Yankees' 5-4 loss to the Angels. A-Rod now has four homers in six postseason games this season.
Our View: So much for A-Rod not being able to get it done in the postseason. He has been a home run machine for the Yanks so far in the playoffs, and he was even intentionally walked with the bases empty in this game. He finally looks ready to lead his team to a World Series, but the Angels will still have something to say about that.

Postseason roll continues for A-Rod
News: In postseasons past, Yankees fans were merciless as 3B Alex Rodriguez foundered. Now they're fawning over him. Rodriguez hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning Saturday in Game 2 of the ALCS against the Angels. So far this October belongs to Rodriguez. He's batting .368 (7 for 19) with three home runs. "I know you guys are probably looking for something profound," Rodriguez said. "I mean, I'm just in a good place. I'm seeing the ball, and I'm hitting it. I mean, that's about it." [...]
Yankees | A-Rod coming up big in the postseason
New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez joined David Ortiz (2004), Kirk Gibson (1988) and Dave Henderson (1986) as the only players in big league history to have two or more game-tying or go-ahead home runs in the ninth inning or later of one postseason, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

Yankees | A-Rod homers to forge tie in ALCS Game 2
The Associated Press reports New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the 11th inning Saturday, Oct. 17, in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series. Rodriguez tied the game at 3-3 and the Yankees went on for a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 13 innings.
A-Rod, role players come through in Game 2
NEW YORK -- Two Tuesdays ago, on the afternoon before these playoffs began, television cameramen and reporters massed around Alex Rodriguez's locker in the Yankees clubhouse, as they usually do, waiting for him to come in from a workout and dispense a few of his typically banal morsels. Relief pitcher Phil Coke didn't even seem to notice. First, Coke's locker has been two away from A-Rod's for a full season now, and he's used to the media crush. Second, Coke's attention was on this day diverted by a gift that had shown up on his chair that morning, as these things tend to do when you're a member of the Yankees: a brand new media player, from whom he did not know. "It's cool," Coke said. "It plays music, it plays movies, it stores photos." Someone pointed out that they lend out the machines in first class of some airlines. "I wouldn't know," Coke said. "I've never been on a plane like that."
A-Rod ties Game 2 with solo shot
Alex Rodriguez had just one hit in Saturday's 13-inning affair, but it was a big one. He homered to tie the game in the 11th inning and the Yanks eventually won in walk-off fashion, taking a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS.
Our View: A-Rod's homer was a wall-scraper, but it got the job done. Looks like he has shed his reputation as a postseason dud, as he already has three homers and seven RBI this October.

What caused Alex Rodriguez to turn it around? Theories abound
NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez has made a lot of changes in his life, and they seem to be working so far. It's tough to judge the new A-Rod except on his playing exploits, as he's made himself a lot scarcer in the new Yankee Stadium (he was nowhere to be seen on workout day Thursday). But folks around him have observed a lot of alterations and see the difference in A-Rod.

News: 3B Alex Rodriguez finally delivered the playoff performance he needed and his talent demanded, powering the Yankees back to the AL championship series. A-Rod leads Yanks in sweep of Twins
Alex Rodriguez continued his strong hitting as the Yankees completed a sweep of the Twins with a 4-1 victory on Sunday. A-Rod was 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and a walk.
Our View: A-Rod's home run was an absolute blast that tied the game at one. He has hit four home runs in his last four games going back to the regular season. He also has at least one RBI in each of those four games for a total of 13. He is hitting .455 through three playoff games.
Rodriguez and Posada power Yanks back to ALCS
Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada hit seventh-inning home runs to spoil Carl Pavano's opportunity to frustrate New Yorkers one more time, and the Yankees advanced to their first AL championship series in five years with a 4-1 victory and sweep of the Minnesota Twins on Sunday night.

A-Rod finally clutch in postseason
News: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez hit a tying, two-run homer off Joe Nathan in the ninth after a leadoff single by Teixeira on Friday in Game 2 of the NLDS. Rodriguez also had his third two-out RBI single of the series as the Yankees patched together their first 2-0 postseason start since 1999 against Texas. "This whole year I'm playing with no expectations," said Rodriguez, who missed the first month of the season after hip surgery. "I'm going out and having fun doing the best that I can." Rodriguez's mammoth drive landed in the Yankees' bullpen in left-center for his first postseason homer since Game 4 of the 2007 division series against Cleveland. [...]
Yankees | A-Rod homers in Game 2

He also had a two-out RBI single in the game. It was Rodriguez's first playoff home run since Game 4 of the 2007 Division Series. He has five RBIs in the series after entering the postseason hitless in his previous 18 at-bats with runners in scoring position.
A-Rod ties it in ninth, Teixeira wins it in 11th
That’s a heck of a 3-4 punch in the middle of the Yankees lineup. Alex Rodriguez delivered a two-run, ninth-inning blast over the right-center field wall off of Twins closer Joe Nathan to tie the game 3-3 and send 50,006 Yankee Stadium fans into p...
Nathan blows save as Twins fall into 2-0 hole
Joe Nathan entered Friday's game in the ninth inning with a 3-1 lead and promptly gave up a single and then a game-tying two-run homer to Alex Rodriguez. The Twins ended up losing the game 4-3 in the 11th inning on a walk-off homer by Mark Teixeira, and now trail 2-0 in the ALDS.
Our View: Nathan, who has had his fair share of problems in Division Series play over his career, looked sloppy on Friday night. He allowed four base runners in just 1.1 innings and was saddled with the blown save. It could have been worse as he left the game with runners at the corners and one out, but a clutch double play kept the runs from scoring.
A-Rod's homer gives Yanks life, eventual win
Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to force a 3-3 tie that ended in an eventual 4-3, 11-inning Yankee victory and 2-0 ALDS lead over the Twins.
Our View: A-Rod finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI and has now driven in five over the first two games of the series. Looks like the postseason ghosts have finally stopped haunting the Yankee slugger.
Yankees | A-Rod at 95 percent
Ed Price, of FanHouse.com, reports New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez's (hip) surgically repaired hip is at 95 percent strength and might not need a second operation in the offseason, according to his surgeon, Marc J. A-Rod might not need another surgery
Fanhouse.com is reporting that the surgeon who performed hip surgery on Alex Rodriguez believes that a follow-up operation is likely unnecessary. Dr. Marc J. Phillippon believes the A-Rod is at 95 percent, but he will undergo more tests after the season is over.
Our View: A-Rod would love to avoid another surgery, and it looks like he may get his wish. His hip is the last thing on his mind right now, as the Yanks will try to take a commanding 2-0 lead on the Twins tonight at Yankee Stadium.

It was his first hit with runners on base in the postseason since Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. He had gone 0 for 29 since that game before getting the hit on Wednesday. Playoffs put A-Rod front & center
Alex Rodriguez has become the Phantom of the Clubhouse, hardly ever seen by his locker during times the room is open to outsiders. Other players’ high-tech stalls at the new Yankee Stadium are filled with family photos or personalized in some way. N...
A-Rod blasts into playoffs with record day
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Yesterday's record-setting day was nice. Now it's time for Alex Rodriguez to produce in the postseason: the only time that counts in the Yankees' universe. By the time Rodriguez steps to the plate in Game 1 of the ALDS (lik...
Yankees | A-Rod drives in seven in one inning
The Associated Press reports New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez had two homers and an AL-record seven RBIs in the 6th inning Sunday, Oct. 4. He finished the season with at least 30 homers and 100 RBIs for the 13th time and 12th season in a row. He also tied 1B Mark McGwire with 583 career homers.
A-Rod plates seven runs in inning
News: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer on his first swing of the season and smacked a grand slam on his last. The slugger was pretty impressive in between, too. Setting what he hopes will be the tone for a successful playoff run, Rodriguez homered twice and drove in an AL-record seven runs in a 10-run sixth inning Sunday at Tampa Bay. Rodriguez hit a three-run homer off Wade Davis, giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead. He added his 18th career grand slam later in the inning after Andy Sonnanstine issued an intentional walk to league co-home run champion Mark Teixeira to load the bases. "It was awesome. That was a great inning for him and for the team," Teixiera said. "It's good to have a nice offensive output like that the last game of the season and give us some momentum." [...]

A-Rod needed exactly two homers and seven RBIs to post his 12th
A-Rod needed exactly two homers and seven RBIs to post his 12th consecutive season of 30 or more taters and 100 or more ribbies. Lo and behold, the third baseman reached the mark to become one of four third baseman to achieve that feat this year. What makes it more amazing in A-Rod's respect is that he did it in just 124 games, which is his lowest game total since he played 48 in 1995. Rodriguez also finished with a .286 batting average, 78 runs and 14 stolen bases to remind owners why he should still be considered a first-round lock in next year's drafts.
A-Rod homers twice in one inning
Alex Rodriguez cracked two homers and drove in seven runs all in the sixth inning of the Yankees 10-2 win over the Rays. All ten New York runs came in the sixth.
Our View: A-Rod was 3-for-4 on the day overall and finishes the season with exactly 30 homers and 100 RBI. He now has 12 consecutive 100-RBI campaigns and eight seasons where he achieved both feats simultaneously.

Miranda hits first homer
Juan Miranda went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer off Dale Thayer in tonight's 13-4 loss at Tampa Bay.
Our View: Miranda recorded his first career homer tonight. He has good hitting skills, but does not look to make an impact anytime soon with Mark Teixeira at first base and Alex Rodriguez at the hot corner.

i love this guy, he is the best, also my cousin so what can i say.
There is so much drama with arod that it is ridiculous. He should have never went to the Yankees. It was the worst thing that he could have done for both his profesional career and private life.
He just can't handle it!
Go go aroid! I hope this year he has a great year. I can care less what he took, though his "apology" was quite lame.
Now a report came out that his wife found love letters. LOL. "I feel like Madonna is using mind control over him," Cynthia, 34, told a pal, according to the News. "I don't recognize the man he's become. He was a sweet, beautiful, loving husband and father.
