A-Rod launches 12th homer
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in tonight's 8-5 win over the Mariners at Yankee Stadium.
Our View: A-Rod continues to hit for power while coming off hip surgery, as he crushed a homer in three of his last five games, and has 12 for the season.
Beltran visiting specialist
Carlos Beltran is visiting a specialist in Colorado Monday at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic to examine the bone bruise under his right knee, according to Newsday. That is the same facility that Alex Rodriguez underwent his hip surgery.
Our View: Dr. Richard Steadman is a specialist in micro-fracture surgery, but he or the Mets did not comment that Beltran may need the procedure. The club wants to see how far the star outfielder's injury has progressed.

Yes, I am on Twitter.
A while back I was playing a game with a few colleagues trying to decide who was the best player we had seen play in our time covering baseball. The list of the usual suspects came up led by Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez. And then when my turn came I said, "Mariano Rivera."

Yankees | A-Rod told to cut down practice swings by 75 percent
New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the team plans to keep giving 3B Alex Rodriguez days off, according to The Associated Press. In theory, the Yankees want to limit him to five or six games in a row. In addition, after hitting his 564th career home run Friday, Rodriguez was told to cut down his practice swings by 75 percent by Dr. Marc Philippon. "The competitiveness in a player sometimes doesn't allow them to say that I need a day, so it's our job to watch him, and we see or feel that he needs a day, we give him a day," Girardi said.

News: New York manager Joe Girardi said the Yankees planned to keep giving Alex Rodriguez days off. After hitting his 564th homer Friday night to pass Reggie Jackson and move into sole possession of 11th place, Rodriguez he had been told to cut down his practice swings by 75 percent by Dr. Marc Philippon. "It's not probably clear cut as the Joba rules," Girardi said, referring to restrictions in place on Joba Chamberlain when he first joined the Yankees two years ago. With Rodriguez's stroke coming back only slowly following hip surgery in March, New York wants to limit to him to five or six games in a row, at least in theory. "The competitiveness in a player sometimes doesn't allow them to say that I need a day, so it's our job to watch him, and we see or feel that he needs a day, we give him a day," Girardi said. [...]

Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer off reliever Elmer Dessens in Friday's 9-1 win at the Mets.
Our View: A-Rod homered in back-to-back games and seems to be past his battle with fatique. He hit his 564th homer, hence passing Reggie Jackson on the career list.

CC Sabathia denied the Mets on Friday with an RBI single and seven three-hit innings during the Yankees' 9-1 win, in which Alex Rodriguez passed Reggie Jackson with his 564th homer.

A-Rod homers in Atlanta
Alex Rodriguez carried the Yankees offensively in tonight's 11-7 win at Atlanta, as he went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. He hit two singles and a solo homer off Derek Lowe.
Our View: A-Rod looks to be past his bout with fatigue, evidenced by his solid performance. He should be safe to keep active in fantasy lineups.
Alex Rodriguez walked, singled twice, swatted his 10th home
Alex Rodriguez walked, singled twice, swatted his 10th home run, scored twice and drove in four runners in six plate appearances on Thursday.
Analysis: The homer has to be a refreshing bit of news for owners who had seen A-Rod produce just two hits -- both singles -- in his prior eight games. It also could be a promising indication that Rodriguez is set to rake at Citi Field this weekend against the Mets. Plans are for A-Rod to start all three games vs. the Mets before the Yanks' off-day June 29.
Jeter, Damon, A-Rod power Yankees
Alex Rodriguez tied Reggie Jackson with his 563rd home run and Mariano Rivera earned his 499th career save in the New York Yankees' 11-7 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night.

News: Alex Rodriguez should be in the lineup this weekend when the Yankees play their first games at the Mets' new Citi Field. "It's our home city, and I think our guys enjoy the Subway Series," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Thursday before New York played the Atlanta Braves. "Alex feels good, feels like he's got a lot of energy in his legs. He feels good, so we'll let him keep going." A-Rod then went out and showed his manager how well his surgically repaired hip was feeling, hitting his 563rd home run to tie Reggie Jackson for 11th place all-time with a solo shot in the first inning. Girardi said he and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman discussed Rodriguez's recovery from the surgery in March with team physician Christopher Ahmad on a conference call earlier Thursday. According to Girardi, Ahmad said Marc Phillipon, the Colorado specialist who operated on the $275 million third baseman, doesn't think Rodriguez needs one off day a week as the team indicated recently. A-Rod feels good
Skipper Joe Girardi indicated that Alex Rodriguez is feeling good and should play in this weekend's subway series against the Mets, according to the Associated Press. Rodriguez has been dealing with fatigue.
Our View: A-Rod should be fine to keep active in fantasy lineups, but expectations should be tempered as he is only hitting .152 over 66 at-bats in June.

A-Rod ties Reggie on all-time homer list
Alex Rodriguez finally caught Mr. October, hitting the 563rd home run of his Major League career and tying Reggie Jackson -- now a Yankees front-office advisor -- for 11th place in history.
A-Rod's plan for rest slightly altered
But since the Yankees have an off-day on Monday, it now appears possible Alex Rodriguez could play through the Subway Series at Citi Field.
Yankees | A-Rod on the decline?
Jayson Stark, of ESPN.com, reports one scout said New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez looks "like he's aged about five years overnight." He can't move. He can't run. And when he does run, he looks like he's got a weight belt on. I see that guy with nine years left on his contract, and I say, 'Uh-oh.'"
Francisco Cervelli hit his first career homer to break a 14-inning
News: Francisco Cervelli hit his first career homer to break a 14-inning drought in Atlanta, then Alex Rodriguez came through with a two-run single that sparked the Yankees to a 8-4 victory Wednesday night. After Joba Chamberlain lined out, Derek Jeter singled to left, Johnny Damon lined a single to center and Mark Teixeira walked to load the bases in the sixth. The Braves brought on Jeff Bennett to face Rodriguez, having a miserable season since missing the first month with a hip injury. He was batting just .204 and quickly fell behind 0-2 in the count. Bennett barely missed the strikeout when Rodriguez fouled a pitch off the glove of catcher Brian McCann, who stared at his empty mitt in disgust. Rodriguez lined the next pitch -- a fastball over the inside corner -- into right-center for a two-run single. Clearly relieved, he clapped his hands and exchanged a slap with first-base coach Mick Kelleher. [...]

Yankees | A-Rod's June slump continues
The New York Times reports New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-4 Tuesday, June 23, extending his slump to 1-for-23. “I thought he had some good swings tonight,” manager Joe Girardi said. “There were no results. It’s taking him a little time. He’s been in a funk. But he’s going to come out of it, too. History’s on his side. He’s too good of a hitter.”
3 Up: Girardi's Seat Gets Warmer
Yes, I am on Twitter.
As far as health is concern, the Yankees are going in a different direction than the Mets. Sure there are little bumps such as questions about fatigue with Alex Rodriguez and whether CC Sabathia indeed just had a minor blip with some biceps tightness. These are not insignificant since A-Rod and Sabathia also qualify as the most expensive hitter and pitcher, respectively, in the history of the game.
Yankees | A-Rod breaks out of slump Sunday
Bobbie Dittmeier, of MLB.com, reports New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez singled Sunday, June 21, to break out of an 0-for-16 slump.
A-Rod to rest one day a week through break
Alex Rodriguez, who did not start on Friday and Saturday due to fatigue six weeks after returning from surgery on his right hip, will get one day of rest each week through next month's All-Star break.
Rodriguez had hip surgery during Spring Training and missed
Rodriguez had hip surgery during Spring Training and missed the first six weeks of the season, then started 38 consecutive games from May 8-June 18 before resting due to fatigue June 19 and 20. He hit seven home runs in his first 15 games, but has just two in his last 25 contests and is batting .153 since June 1. While owners should want A-Rod in the lineup as much as possible, his production has dropped off drastically of late and extra rest could be the solution. Ramiro Pena and Angel Berroa will likely fill in on days when Rodriguez sits.

Add partying to list of A-Rod worries
The New York Post reports that Alex Rodriguez may have been fatigued this weekend from staying out too late on Friday night.
Our View: It's unclear what exactly A-Rod was celebrating, since his season is quickly becoming comparable to David Ortiz's, sans the walkoff pop fly he hit against the Mets. Whatever it was, he's left his owners with little reason to celebrate. You have to keep starting him, but you may want to consider unloading him if there is anybody in your league who thinks he might turn his season way A-Round in the near future and is willing to give up a haul for the struggling slugger.

News: Alex Rodriguez returned to the Yankees' lineup on Sunday at Florida after being benched the past two games, ending his 0 for 16 skid with a two-run single in the third during his first start ever in his hometown of Miami. Greeted with a mix of cheers and boos, Rodriguez hit a two-run single in the third to give New York a 3-1 lead after Mark Teixeira hit an RBI double earlier in the inning. Rodriguez said he reserved about 100 tickets for family and friends, including his mother and high school coach, but he didn't give them much else to cheer about. He finished 1 for 4 with two strikeouts, including one leading off the ninth. [...]
A-Rod notches two RBI in losing effort
Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a single and two RBI in Sunday's 6-5 loss at Florida.

A-Rod returned to the starting lineup with success Sunday, recording his first RBIs since June 13. As planned, he came back after spending June 19-20 on the bench with what was termed as general fatigue. A team day off for travel -- they're starting a series against the Braves June 23 -- will give Rodriguez another day to recuperate.
A-Rod to play Sunday
According to the Miami Herald, Manager Joe Girardi states that barring any unforeseen setbacks Alex Rodriguez will play in the the Yankees-Marlins series finale on Sunday.
Our View: Girardi continues to insist that A-Rod was benched due to fatigue and not poor play, so I guess he feels the ever-newsworthy slugger isn't tired any more. Adjust your lineups accordingly and get A-Rod back in there (you kind of have to, you know?). We'll monitor his status in case one of those "unforeseen setbacks" rears its ugly head.
A-Rod won't need to request future rest
It's been a commotion-filled two days for Yankees manager Joe Girardi, thanks to what he thought was a minor issue. Had the Yankees simply followed doctor's orders, Alex Rodriguez would have rested seven or eight times by now. Regardless, Rodriguez will be back in the lineup on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. ET for the last of three games against the Marlins.

A-Rod out again on Saturday
Updating a previous report, Alex Rodriguez is indeed out of the Yankees' lineup for their Saturday night game against the Marlins. This will be the second straight game A-Rod has missed.
Our View: Manager Joe Girardi said he was sitting A-Rod for the weekend, but many people thought he would be back in the lineup tonight. He is not, so fantasy owners should hurry and replace him for tonight's game if possible. His status for tomorrow's contest in still unknown.

A-Rod a late scratch with fatigue
Alex Rodriguez, who walked into Joe Girardi's office Thursday night and told the Yankees manager that he needed a blow, was a late scratch from Friday's lineup with a case of general fatigue.
What's Girardi to do with A-Rod?
1) Does Yankees manager Joe Girardi need to find more down time for Alex Rodriguez? Or does the New York manager keep running Rodriguez out there hoping the third baseman, who turns 34 next month and is coming off hip surgery, simply needs more at-bats to find his groove? Those questions have become more acute as A-Rod continues to slump, and Girardi will not have use of the DH option for the next nine games as New York plays in NL parks.
Yankees bench slumping Alex Rodriguez for 2 days
Alex Rodriguez's homecoming will have to wait a little longer. Following a tumultuous month at the plate, the slumping third baseman was benched Friday for two games by the New York Yankees for what he and the team called "fatigue." The three-time AL MVP had been set to play his first regular-season games in his hometown of Miami against the Marlins.

We just want to give him a couple of days to recharge the batteries." He will be available to pinch hit, but is just 8-for-55 with two home runs in June, according to The Miami Herald's Manny Navarro and Andre C. Fernandez. Yanks marvel at fortune of fluke error
Alex Rodriguez walked to his locker modestly after Friday's game, tongue firmly in cheek, and asked reporters if they wanted to talk to the evening's hero.
Yanks marvel at fortune of fluke error
A little gallows humor was called for on Friday night, especially after Alex Rodriguez's Yankees became unlikely winners. Mets second baseman Luis Castillo couldn't find a soaring popup, the ball falling safely as two runs scored and the Yankees snuck off with a 9-8 victory on Friday at Yankee Stadium.
Evading Teixeira K-Rod's decision
The frustrating part, for the Mets, is that Francisco Rodriguez's decision in the ninth inning worked. Before Alex Rodriguez hit the popup that doomed the Mets, and before the Yankees leaped out of the dugout to grab their 9-8 win, Rodriguez decided that he'd rather pitch to A-Rod than to Mark Teixeira -- his former teammate and one of the hottest hitters in the league.

Alex Rodriguez slammed his bat and then threw it. The first Subway Series game at new Yankee Stadium was over. And then it wasn't. Yankees manager Joe Girardi made no qualms about it. In his mind, the pitch from Red Sox starter Brad Penny that hit Alex Rodriguez in the back on Thursday night was no accident.
Yankees | Girardi: Penny plunked A-Rod on purpose
The Associated Press reports New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi accused Boston Red Sox SP Brad Penny of intentionally hitting 3B Alex Rodriguez with a pitch Thursday, June 11. A-Rod productive in loss
Alex Rodriguez was productive in Thursday's 4-3 loss at Boston, as he went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. He also swiped a base.
Our View: A-Rod ended a three-game skid without a hit, and a four-game drought without an RBI. He is only hitting .176 so far in June.

A-Rod has raised his batting average from .189 on May 24 to .253 by hitting safely in 10 of 11 contests. The fact that he's starting to hit the ball to the opposite field, including Saturday's homer which went to right-center field, shows that the third baseman's timing is coming together after he missed the season's first month with a hip injury.

TMR is a an A-Rod sellerFrom ESPN.com's Matthew Berry: "I'm selling him now, and here's why: I believe you now can get full first-round value for A-Roid in a trade, and he won't earn it. Flashy debut aside, he's hitting .250 this season. He is hitting home runs at a better rate than last year and is walking more, so what's the problem? And yet you can get value for him like he isn't."Talented Mr. RotoThu, Jun 4 [...]

i love this guy, he is the best, also my cousin so what can i say.
There is so much drama with arod that it is ridiculous. He should have never went to the Yankees. It was the worst thing that he could have done for both his profesional career and private life.
He just can't handle it!
Go go aroid! I hope this year he has a great year. I can care less what he took, though his "apology" was quite lame.
Now a report came out that his wife found love letters. LOL.

"I feel like Madonna is using mind control over him," Cynthia, 34, told a pal, according to the News. "I don't recognize the man he's become. He was a sweet, beautiful, loving husband and father.
